Organic Farming & The Use of Economical Bio-fertilizers
Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, we propose to support the Bhauri village where our campus is located.
To encourage organic farming and use of economical bio-fertilizers in the farming practices
To educate the farmers with the benefits of organic farming as compared to chemical fertilizer based farming
The availability of water is limited in these regions, thus organic farming becomes more relevant because the chemical fertilizer needs huge quantities of water to activate its molecule whereas, organic fertilizers does not need such conditions
Organic fertilizers are safe and does not produces harmful chemical compounds, thus beneficial for the environment
Next-Generation Sequencing Facility will be used to assess the microflora of the soil
For this initiative, a formal collaboration will be made with the MP Council of Science and Technology which has developed expertise in producing different types of bio-fertilizers
To further strengthen this initiative, we will also benefit from expertise of researchers from the Indian Institute of Soil Sciences which is located in the vicinity of IISER Bhopal
‘Centre for Research on Environment and Sustainable Technologies’ (CREST)
CREST, a Center of Excellence, is coming up at IISER Bhopal supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, under its Centres of Excellence (CoE)-Frontier Areas in Science and Technology (FAST) programme.
Several researchers from different disciplines have participated in the joint proposal
Under this centre, several new programs can be supported to develop sustainable environmental technologies for the benefit of rural population.
